french fries & freedom

a gift from France in 1886

I guess now that you guys are breaking up you’ll have to return the gift, yeah?

Jackass.

I mean, your politicians are so short-sighted and insular that they grab limelight by renaming their cafeteria food, and yet point to this very symbol as everything they’re “defending” by bombing a nation of hostage civilians.

Double Jackass.

Who are you to have any objection to a country exercising the same freedom of thought that you hold so dear? They don’t agree with you. That should be the end of it. Think about it- put anyone else in your position, doing exactly what you’re proposing. You think you’d be there for them? I guarantee you that you wouldn’t mobilize a potato peeler unless it was serving your own notoriously short-sighted aims.

Freedom, my ass. You’re just in it for you. Always have been. “Right” doesn’t enter into it.

And hey- what if EVERY country elected whiny presidents who watch too much Dirty Harry?

So pack up your statue, and send it back to the people who still understand the symbolism.

  1. Well said. A subject that definately deserves attention. That’s about as far as I can go though. Post something I can really comment on, would ya!

    COMMENT:
Yay! The blog is back up! *dances*

  2. As much as all is wrong with the world, at least your back up. Whew!

Do we pack up the statue just because of the actions of one man? (well ok, its more than one man) Or do we save it for the time when we need to be reminded, after Bush falls and when the world weeps over the stupidity of one man and his country.

Right now I feel awful for all those Americans who don’t agree with Bush and his war. They have to watch this go on and feel the disdain of the rest of the world. *sigh*

  3. Yeah, it’s tough, because we don’t let them out of this box we’ve put them in, even though of course not all Americans are the same. On the other hand, you can judge a people by their behaviour, and Americans generally behave like total idiots. Anyone who has travelled can easily identify them, sadly.

    They are the boors. :(

  4. God is in Heaven, the Queen is on her throne and dj’s blog is back in business. All is good today.

Viva la France! This country does not understand what freedom means. Really,if you do not agree with War and prefer diplomacy you become the enemy. Goes to show the lack of understanding of Americans on freedom of opinion and the fact that they get an F in diplomacy. I am sure they do not know that French is the language of diplomacy. This is still a country that beleives in Manifest Destiny.
