The Story: backstage with Brandi Carlile at the Letterman Show in 2015. Both were guests that night on the show. Brandi was performing a song with the Avett Brothers. Yesterday, Brandi announced Cover Stories to commemorate the tenth anniversary of her landmark album, The Story. It is an amazing project in music but almost more importantly in how it benefits refugee children. Rather than just re-release the original recording, Brandi has recruited the most eclectic group of artists to sing covers of all the songs. ADELE! PEARL JAM! DOLLY PARTON! AVETT BROTHERS! I mean the list just goes on and on. 14 songs, 14 different artists. Trust me, it’s amazing. Brandi was kind enough to play the recordings for my wife and me yesterday. And here’s the thing: every artist is joining Brandi in donating ALL proceeds from this album to War Child UK, an organization dedicated to helping children who have become refugees because of war. To quote my former boss: “These children are no less curious, hopeful and worthy of love than our own.” Check this album out: http://ift.tt/1q78bI6. @brandicarlile
