thanks given

I’m thankful for so much, but the last couple weeks have reminded me just how fortunate I am. I am not in Yemen. I am not in Syria. I’ve never had a gun pointed at me. For the accidents of chance that made me Canadian and all the other heaps of advantages that have made my life, compared to so many, so easy. For my family. For my true friends and new friends. For my work. For the things that went right and the things that gave me the opportunity to learn.

May I, through my own journey of learning, help others to learn as well. May I leave this world just slightly better off than it was when I arrived. And may the day of that departure be a long, long way off.

Peace.

Hodang Mix II

Hodang Mix II

I’ve been trying to build better snacking habits looking for zero cholesterol and high Omega-3, with good protein and reasonable carbs. This mix is the bomb-diggity, and the danger is I will eat too much of it.

HODANG MIX II
1/2 part walnuts
1/2 part dried pineapple
1/2 part dried cherries
1 part thompson raisins
1 part wasabi almonds (this is the magic right here, yo)

Because when you taste it, you say, “Ho, dang.”

You’re welcome.

meet Titan Grand Prix

How was your Sunday? Mine was good. I am part of a team that engineered and piloted a giant drone to victory against a Formula E car at the New York City ePrix. So… that’s pretty cool. Meet Titan Grand Prix, a giant drone racing league that would very much like to take the world by storm. Because once you’ve heard these monsters live, you are a fan for life.

Watch the background here after Zach’s spectacular finish to see just how far back the ePrix car is.

And, here’s the official Titan Grand Prix race video:

Zach made a safe ditch when he felt some squirrely nonsense in the handling (safety first!). And besides, we won. Formula E made the call to scratch the best 2 out of 3 series because, well, that was frickin’ terrifying. =) Don’t hold it against them. This was their first time. Zach did awesome, and they are terrific hosts. We hope to do it again soon!

On behalf of Titan Grand Prix, our heartfelt thanks to the Federation of Drone Racing, to FIA Formula E, to JAM Projects, to our pilots Zachry Thayer and Jordan Temkin, and to many more individuals without whom this could not have happened. If we have not had opportunity to thank you individually yet, you know we will. Here’s to future successes even brighter than this.

Love to Marjorie for having my back, and to Avery. She looked pretty thrilled that her dad was out there doing the thing with the drone and the car. Love love love.

Giant F-ing Drones. Check Titan Grand Prix on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and the Dot Com (or the dot com if you insist). Here’s a few shots from along the way:

Such a great team!
