Thought you might like to read an email I received from Danielle, the champ who organized the Cuts for the Cure benefit for breast cancer research. A feel-good for everyone who participated, and a reminder to everyone who missed out that, d00d, you missed out.
hello my ‘peeps’!
i did it!! 60k, barely but i did it. wahoo! it was so hard you guys. way harder than i thought. it could have been because i didn’t train anywhere near as much as i should have. holy smokes.
on saturday we walked 9 and 1/2 hours! 9 and 1/2! i was planning on about 6. 6 sounds so much easier doesn’t it? and the rain! we were soaked to the bone! to the bone! even though i was wearing a garbage bag. a garbage bag! still soaked. my pink feather boa looked like a drowned cat! what an adventure.
saturday night i was clear that i wasn’t walking anywhere sunday. i was cooked. in pain, wet, exhausted. i could barely get myself from the main area to my own tent. then i started thinking about the people that donated $1 a kilometer. i would have to get their donations back!?!? (smile)
so after a quick trip to the camp chiropractor i thought i would just take it one hour at a time on sunday. do as much as i physically could. 7 hours later we crossed the finish line at bc place, greeted by screaming and cheering supporters. it was amazing. we were crying all over the place. what an experience.
thank you all for all of your support. in the end i collected $3000 in donations. wahoo! how great is that! the event collected $7 million! Seven million dollars! (insert doctor evil impression here). you guys are amazing to me. thank you so much!
i’ll show you all the photos when i see you next. love to you all!
danielle.
