about last night…

Aooooogah!

At the general meeting on Thursday I proposed we bring back Beer Friday at the Mill. For a long time we’d knock off early on Fridays and go for a sociable pint at Darcy’s. Then we got serious about taking over the world and we just didn’t make the time anymore. So the motion carried and sure enough at 4pm Friday we trekked the hundred feet or so to the pub. 4pm.

9pm. No one has any idea how many jugs we went through. We just hollered for more every once in a while in true Carousing Millians fashion and beer would appear. And thanks must go to Nick for suggesting the te-kill-ya shots. Yummy. Bastard. And to Shannon for the Slippery Nipples. I swear the girl has a fixation. It was an awesome good time. After 12 (or more?) of us dominated the whole section at the pub for 5 hours, racking up a $460 tab, we bolted like drunken monkeys to the mall to catch the liquor store before they closed. This was AFTER appearing on VI news in all our sodden splendour.

We made it to the liquor store. We spent another big pile of money. We even split off a scout force to track down limes for MORE tequila. At some point Talktalk had shown up at Darcy’s and I know we had a good chat, but this is the first moment I clearly remember him being there.

We gathered at the Mill and cranked up the boomtune. A couple hours earlier Nick had gone to meet Lola at a party which had touched down at Big Bad John’s. At some point later he’d gone home with tummy trouble (te-kill-ya, laddie!) so someone decided Lola must be rescued from the sheer drear over there and another scouting force went off to do the deed.

Somewhere around 11pm-12am. Lola and friends join the party. Jaime had by now joined the throng. Ellen was fuming at me for making her new pack of smokes vanish. There were people everywhere, and all of them friends. Jim had wisely decided to come hang out with us today and he was still going strong. Get a couple drinks in that lad and he really loosens right up, doesn’t he? *grin*

A big puddle of us ended up in the boardroom somewhere around midnight or 12:30, poured onto the beanbag chairs. The conversation was priceless. I started a game of picking a target and demanding they describe someone or something in one word. I think I actually took the ego-centric route of asking Grant and Dub-A to describe me. Grant: “Brick”. Aaron: “Solid” (we nagged him for being influenced by Grant’s answer so he changed it to “Magnificent”. Smoley hokes, guys. You rawk. Me

  1. I gotta say, it was nice to see the mill party like we used to. We must be vigilant that even as we Step Up we don’t lose the fun. But we all know that… :)
