working the P.A.

on set

The peaceful medieval village of Back Lot.

Yesterday I worked. It’s been a while. I took January off to develop some directions in photography and I would say I had medium success. Now it’s time to get back to paying bills. A hookup with a friend led me, with the contingent acquisition of my new wheels, to Maple Ridge, and a job as a Production Assistant. Basically, he’s the guy who wears a walkie and tells everyone to shut up. 15 hour days.

It was a bit of a test drive, and I only screwed up sounding the bell a couple times. Not entirely my fault- directors are notorious for assuming you know what they mean when they say things like “going again”, regardless of whether you’re already rolling. We had a good time, nonetheless. I’m up again next Monday & Tuesday. Do I want to work 15 hours plus two hours in the car every day? Indefinitely? Well, we shall see. The important thing right now is to wedge this door wide open.

The show is Blood Ties [imdb link], set to debut on the Lifetime network in the States on March 11 [Lifetime link]. There’s a brand new ‘fan site’ set up over here. The show will be airing in Canada “in a few months”. Well, sister, that’s why we have bittorent. The show has vampires, sex & drugs. Should do quite well in that it has the essentials covered. Or uncovered as the case may be.

Anyway, there’s what I was doing with my yesterday. Today I slept in.
