the nightly email to the crew:

Happy Wednesday!  It’s like Saturday for Editors!  Without the
cartoons and Froot Loops!  Woo!  Remember when weekends meant
something?  Like, back in school?  When we couldn’t drink legally?

See?  Bright side to everything.

The editors have washed their hands of Episode 103 except for all the
stuff that creeps up and never really lets you move on or let go of
something completely so you drift through a meaningless and hopeless
existence of used book stores and laundromats and it always seems to
be raining like the dim gray tiles in your bathroom which you bought
because she said they were avant guard and you were so in love but she
discovered hip hop and a penchant for boys who wear baseball caps
sideways and you sometimes want to buss a cap but you’re just a white
guy from the burbs and she’s so long gone and what’s the point and you
are so sick of watching gameshows and repeats of MASH and even your
cat is depressed until one day you wake up and you can hardly remember
what she looks like and it’s been days since you last thought of how
she ripped your heart out and you realize that maybe just maybe you’ll
make it through this?

What?

Jon is going to smack the DLT around a bit to see what’s up with the
dealio but Miguel is moving on with the redundant drive backup plan,
where we’ll back up to a drive as we go, then burn to dvd at the mix.
Nice & stable.  Until that happens I’m sticking files in cubby holes
all over the studio so if something breaks we can, in theory, get up
really early one morning and see if the Easter Bunny left us any
surprise treats.  Also I’m backing up to DVCH Assist in case we’re in
a hurry and don’t believe in bunnies that give away chocolate.

Um…

Jon & Chris are also going to look at the SCSI issues in Edit 10, not
to mention the V1 Blank Stare Effect also in Edit 10.  I’m thinking an
Edit 10 upgrade to OS X or better might do the trick wholesale except
that would break the Fancy ProTools in there.  A quandary indeed,
Watson.  Rusty’s computer should be left on to avoid making an
unstable box worse.  It could use a good scrubbing, I think.  The
network patch from Edit 2 to the printers is broken.  Miguel has
mentioned he’d like to get FileMaker Pro installed in another suite
and I’ll second that.

Mix Pic & Guide has been loaded to Edit 9 and one V1 which is
currently being used by Harley in Edit 3.  I’ll mention to him that he
has to let her go because one day they all grow up and isn’t that a
pity because they’re so darling when they’re young and once they leave
home there’s just no talking to them and then you’re old and useless
and they’d rather not think about you at all so it’s just a visit at
Christmas and then just a card and then you fade away in a home
somewhere and then it’s too late to make amends and those ungrateful
wretches just don’t have a clue, not a damned clue.

What?  The V1 will be on the shelf.

Picture’s loaded, Guide is loaded, Throaty Truck Noises are renamed
and transfered, and I’m ten pounds heavier thanks to Mom’s
Thanksgiving Dinner.  I’ve got Wednesday night off so I’ll see y’all
Thursday eve.
