credit

So I saw the end credits for the first episode. Everybody’s on there except Harley & me: the night shift. To be expected. But I should make sure Mother is advised so she doesn’t spend fifteen minutes trying to stop-frame with the VCR.

Harley and I were hoping for credit but tv shows only have so much time to cram in the love, whereas movie credits can get pretty obscure. Like cat babysitters and such. Ah well. It’ll still look pretty sweet on the resume. Now if the show wins another Gemini then I’ll be a little more ticked because that sort of thing can be very helpful in the career game.

But more than fame I’m looking forward to fortune. Or at least the little sliver of it that I should see by the end of the week. Or Monday. Payroll is a fickle pickle. This will be the first actual paycheque I’ve seen since the end of July. Back around Septeber 1 I had glowing plans for the grand dinner I would buy with the first paycheque, and Maigen and I were looking at dressers and couches and cats. We’ve revised the plan a little. Dinner will be KFC, the dresser will continue to be a stack of milk crates, the couch will remain a bean bag, and the cat will be knitted from scratch.

But we’re still smiling because the sunshine floods our living room over the ocean every day, and splashes right across us when we’re snuggled in watching last season’s Battlestar Galactica. Turns out Miguel knows the sound designer and the actor who plays Helo. Neat.

Now that my part in the first episode of DaVinci’s City Hall is done and I’ve begun work on the second I’m beginning to feel like I may be getting a handle on the job. There’s still a ton of information that has filtered through me without sticking, needing some context to resolve itself into useful knowledge. But tonight I’ve done the full picture and guide load without needing my notes, and that’s pretty damn cool. I’m getting it.

Yup, I can’t complain even though the wallet hasn’t bothered to leave the house in two weeks. Everytime I look up there’s a new reason to love being here. This is a gorgeous city full of opportunity and resource. I’m in the right place at the right time for me. I have no idea where circumstance will lead from here but I’ll willingly forge ahead to find out.

And you can’t knock my co-pilot.
