I knew when I saw the soundtrack that there would be detractors. I admit I had reservations. But I was pretty sure I could trust the OTT romanticism of the Italians and I believe I was proven right. They put on an absolutely stunning show. It really did take my breath away and brought tears to Maigen’s eyes despite Nelly Furtado. And trust those wacky wops to successfully jam Celine Dion, Dean Martin and Freddy Mercury in the same room.
Harmony – Walt Disney
C’era Una Volta Il West – Ennio Morricone
Forca – Nelly Furtado
I’m Outta Love – Anastacia
The Power of Love – Celine Dion
Forever – Queen
My Way – Sinatra / Pavarotti
La Titina – Nicolò M. Rota
Volare – Dean Martin
Volare – Gipsy Kings
Pomp & Circumstance – Elgar Opera n.39
It worked, and the lightshow was phenomenal. Here’s a sampling.
Coming up Saturday night – China. I hope to be shooting from the roof for that one.
