welcome home, thomas

Thomas adopted us today.

He’s eight years old, which is not how old kittens are. But you can’t very well tell a cat he’s mistaken when he decides he owns you. So instead of bringing home a kitten we brought home a cat. And he loves it here.

It took him no time at all to decide he was staying. He’s still exploring, of course, but at his own pace. He likes the guided tour so you don’t want to back up without a shoulder check.

It’s true that animals will do the choosing. We interviewed more than half a dozen cats & kittens but once he met us he quickly made it understood that we need look no further. We tried, but he stalked us to the door and kept the conversation going in case we might forget about him. Two other couples tried to get his attention but he already had his new family picked out. We had to go sign the papers and he studiously ignored everyone else, waiting as patiently as he could.

And now he’s home, sprawled with Maigen Mom on the couch, sound asleep.

Best first day off in a month ever.

  1. Weirdness – Stephen and I have a new addition to our family as of this weekend as well… an 8-week old kitten we named “Echo”.

Once I am able to upload pics to my blog I intend on posting about her. :)
