snappy snappy

No. No, we’re not launching AdrianTaverner.ca yet, although davin and I have been having some great conversations about it and what I’ve seen so far is pretty snazzy.

No, this is just something I fired up as a distraction from some pics I’m selling.

Speaking of sales, I’m still holding at seven. That’s gratifying and I think it’s so very very cool that people will look at my pics and say, “yeah, I’d buy that.” It’s like saying that the way I see things has appeal. Or something. I should try describing the feeling after a good night’s sleep. =)

That said, I still have a way to go to hit my goal of twenty sales by the end of the month and rent day. (A good friend said, “but that’s like you’re asking me to pay your rent.” And I responded, “yes, but you get a beautiful free 8×10 print.” She said she’d have a look through the gallery and let me know.

I feel like the whole thing is in limbo while everybody waits to see what ends up in the portfolio. People know I’ve been holding back a hundred or so images. People are trying to be wily. You wily people.

Fair enough. But the launch is a way off yet. davin is a busy man and he only gets to work on the site in his free time. So rather than wait I’m going to put up a new album here with some of the portfolio shots. Not sure exactly when I will have time to do that, but that’s The Plan sometime in the next few days. I also have to do some content for a project of Grant‘s that I’m excited about, and he wanted that by this weekend. Hopefully I can get that done on time.

While you’re waiting wily-ly for the portfolio site to be launched maybe you can be tempted by a delicious 8×10 print from the wacky adventures of the Rhinoguys. Or how about some of the experimental goodness from a digital week? Or the classical beauty of Black & White Volume One and Volume Two. I have some personal favorites from my test drive of the Fuji FinePix 3800 such as the famous smarties shot. Or maybe you’d like to have for your very own one of the shot-on-real-film images when I tossed the Fuji and went back to the magical Nikon F-65? There’s a few gorgeous shots in there. Same with June 2003 and the continuation of June, which has one of my all-time fave shots, The Long Blue Walk. Soon after I got the G3 the Wondermillians had a barbeque at Shannon’s place and I pulled off some very nice shots. Back in town I enjoyed the summer with a lot of walking and shooting, lucking out with another one of my fave images: the mail-order mini. And I don’t know if it’ll ever sell, but I do love this wave.

And all that is just through August 2003. Then I started getting serious. There are plenty of stunners later on.

I do love taking pictures. Everything about it: from composition to colour, shutter & aperture, frame to final image. If I can figure out how to do this for a living I would very much like to do it. Growing up I went nearly mad a thousand times because I couldn’t transfer the images in my head to paper. My mind was too fluid. My imagination was too wild. I just couldn’t fix an image in my head long enough to put it on paper, no matter what talent I had for drawing. Photography lets me be immediate and creative in post production.

Time for bed. I feel pretty good about life. Very positive. I hope you’re feeling at least this good too. I may shave my head in the morning. Fun!

Odd you mention it, because just yesterday I was flipping through some old files thinking I should put some of them in a portfolio too, and sell them too, when I ran into a run on sentence and a few pictures of you with yer noggin shorn.

A shorn noggin and a Jagermeister vest!
