a good day (in history)

Happy Mothers Day. My mom doesn’t cruise the blog very frequently (ever?), so she probably won’t see this. Mom, good job. Thanks for doing your best. I know I didn’t make it easy sometimes.

Then again, you never had to find out the stuff you’re better off not knowing. Take comfort in the fact I turned out alright anyway. So far. There’s still time.

Anyway, acknowledging Mom’s noble efforts aside, it was one year ago today that the Rhino crew took to the streets. This afternoon Neil & I happened to be walking past Hugo’s, the bar featured in the photo series, and he stopped in his tracks. Suddenly we remembered the whole day one year ago.

Aaron, Neil & I made a bit of a nuisance of ourselves that day. So much has changed since then. We’re still fond of being a nuisance, of course, but the TOWN has changed. No more Memorial Arena. And we’re not in the Old Mill anymore.

We’re also short one really, really beautiful nightclub. A gorgeous nightclub run by good people who wanted to have a nice place they could be proud of. Dammit.

But that’s a heart-felt rant for another day.

So, a year after the first Rhinoguys tour we’re Jeep-less but Neil‘s the new summer community cruiser guy for Hot103, so I’m thinking this year’s tour will be just a bit more of a nuisance than even we are used too. heh.

I’m not sure when we’ll actually do it. Heather, the manager of promotions there, gets nervous whenever I bring it up. I think I make her nervous. She asked me to apply for the gig and I politely declined, but I helped her talk Neil into doing it. Now I get to have all the fun without any of the responsibility. Yep, she’s nervous.

In other news, Neil picked up his new digital today, and the pics are really promising. Tomorrow I’m going to set up an album for him in the gallery until he works out some sort of angle with his hosting. And I’m thinking I’m going to be picking up a new camera next weekend. Not quite the one I really want, but I haven’t been able to find enough justification to spend the extra $300 so far. I’ll get the other one, and if after a week or so it’s just not pulling its weight I’ll go uptown.

Here‘s the official first pic posted online from Neil’s cam, and yes I picked it personally. ;)

Happy Mothers Day. Hope it was good to you all. And again, here’s looking forward to an epic summer. Been pretty noteworthy so far. Yes it has.

    COMMENT:
I don’t know what you’re all talking about. Epic is so 2000.

    *eye roll*

  2. So is that pronounced “sippee”? Or “psype”?

    Either way, I’m game.

Here’s to a cipe summer! (see? works both ways)

  3. I’d like to create a new word. This summer will be cipe (backwards epic). Yes, cipe indeed. It’s going to be a cipe summer.

    Beautiful nightclub picture.

  4. Sony Dsc P72. Nothing over the top, but I am totally happy with it. We should have an album up tonight with my first day’s photos.
