I thought you would like to know that an IP registered as being owned by Bend Cable is being used to spam.

I run a personal weblog with modest traffic. In the past couple months a tool has become popular with spammers which allows them to instantly post a single comment to an entire database of web properties that have comment spaces.

It’s a complete waste of time, not only for the webmaster who has to erase all the comments, but even for the spammer, who has yet to realize that no one ever sees his garbage. The database they are paying money for is outdated before it gets sold. The comment included here was planted in a post almost a year old. No one sees it, and if they did they would assume whatever this guy is peddling (in this case [deleted]) it must be long gone.

It’s waste of time that serves only to trigger emails like this, to you, in the hopes that you exercise immediate authority and have this spammer booted from your service.

I am posting this email to my blog, naming you as the ISP and encouraging other bloggers who are also receiving spam from this clown to get in touch with you as well.

Obviously, I would rather fill your mailbox with complaints from myself & all the other bloggers affected by this spammer than continue to allow this cretin free rein. Here’s hoping I never have cause to be in touch again.

– forwarded the blog comments and this post to the administrative contact of the ISP.
– posted this blog entry, links deleted, containing available info on the offender and the host.
