Let’s see… where am I at…
Today I worked on the Vegas pics some more. They’re coming.
Then I jetted off to serve as photographer for the Shopping Spree Lottery, which was interesting enough. I did it for free though. It’s a charitable event and they’re giving me recognition as a sponsor and I’ll supposedly have some link lovin’. At the very least it was a learning experience- there is no such thing as the solemnity of the moment when it comes to Getting The Picture. When the old veteran jabbed the official first entry into the barrel the press were on it like cats on mice. No one in the assembled audience could possibly have seen the moment past the half dozen photographers and tv cameras. If I hadn’t lucked out being in a half-decent position ahead of time I would have been completely cut off. Oh well. I got a couple shots.
I sent the keepers off to Heather at the Lottery and then again jetted off an hour late for the family gathering celebrating Jen’s 30th birthday. Man, nobody made a fuss like that when I turned 30. (Well, that’s not entirely true. I WAS drunk for two weeks.) We got treated to a comprehensive slide show of Jennie’s life- lots of school shots, and team shots, and birthday party shots and what the hell is that no no get it off the screen no my eyes my eyes! bahaha! There are bad pictures and then there are famously bad pictures. That one’s a prize winner. And that’s all I’m going to say about that. There were dozens of Jen looking adorable so it’s only fair.
After a hundred good laughs in very good company and some delicious food I had to bolt for work. Things are slow in Victoria in February, and tonight was a little slower than usual for a Friday, which is to say the lineup wasn’t impossible. That meant there was a little time for socializing (hi back atcha, Silvia), which is nothing but good business in my industry. The only downside to the evening… well, let me just say that barcrawl or not you shouldn’t be bent over a toilet at 10pm. Holy lightweights. No stamina.
All in all, a thoroughly satisfying day.
In other news Nicole, one of the cutest and most interesting girls I know and a teacher of hip hop and various other dance styles, is involved in a show coming up next Wednesday, the 16th. She calls it “A Night of Dance” at Reynolds Secondary and also involving Vic High and Claremont. Doors at 7, curtain 7:30, tix only $6 available at the door. I wish I knew more about what the show is all about, but that’s all she told me in her email. I do know she’s a very accomplished dancer though, and a great teacher. She teaches Leanne, one of our very favorite bartenders at Darcy’s & the UC. I’m betting the show will have a few wows in it.
She also said the school’s production of Grease begins a two-week run on March 1st. Tickets are $8 and will probably be limited at the door, so she recommends hitting the Reynolds office sometime soon.
Now that I’ve gone & said that Jen is going to be hounding me to go. *sigh*
What else is new? Hmm.
OH! The Impromaniacs have begun regular weekly shows at Floyd’s, the faboo diner at the corner of Yates & Quadra. Shows are at 7pm every Friday. You must get there early or you will not get a seat. I’m all over excited about this because it means not only are we performing publically again but I get to participate! We’re done in time for me to go to work. So hawt right now. I don’t know if I’m performing next week but I’ve thrown my name in the circle for sure. I’ll at least be in the audience, and I sincerely hope you will be as well.
Other news…
Naughty fun! I’m a fan of Alexa, who writes A New York Escort’s Confessions. If you’re underage or easily offended now is a good time to stop reading. Go here instead. You’ve been warned. Alexa- I think her sense of humour is totally charming, and I love that she isn’t jaded or bitter. She’s professional, young & curious. Just like most of us. I’ve been reading her blog for a while now, but I just noticed she’s added a link to the Encyclopedia of Sex, which is hilarious if sometimes disturbing. I had to share. You need never feel lost trying to follow a conversation in the locker room again.
Well, kids. It’s almost six in the morning and what the hell am I doing still up writing. I’m cross-eyed, for the love of all that is holy. So I’m outta here, pausing only to say that the Vegas pics are indeed coming within the next few days, followed or preceeded by an exciting new contest that I hope everyone who works in an office and reads this blog will take part in.
Happy Saturday.
I work in an office! I like contests!
COMMENT:
Thank-you sweetie!
Tell Jen, I’ll save her a seat. ;)
Thanks for the links to Alexa… once you start following the Carnival of Sin links, there’s weeks worth of reading to be had!
