more news from the police state

More peaceful protesters are removed from a public event. Their crime: anti-Bush t-shirts. The feds pay $80 000 in an out of court settlement, in hopes of avoiding painful exposure as a police state, grinding down the primary principal the union was founded upon- freedom of expression. They blame the actions of a few over-zealous individuals in security, despite clear policy of removing dissidents from public events.

AT&T censors Pearl Jam at Lolapalooza, audio-blanking Vedder’s anti-Bush lyrics on their web-cast. Vedder’s line: “George Bush, leave this world alone… George Bush, find yourself another home.” AT&T has blamed the censorship on the over-zealous actions of an individual.

But hey, I’m Canadian. I just watch and laugh ruefully.
