In a move that should not surprise anyone, Harper’s Conservative government has axed funding for the One Tonne Challenge (website already down?!), Canada’s most widely known proactive volunteer effort against global warming. It looks like the link for the official website may be dead already. Try this link to the non-profit program site One Less Tonne.
Harper is the archetype for stereotypical Calgary business mindset. That is to say he’s reinforcing a stereotype, so don’t get mad at me, Calgary. He’s all business, all conservative, and certainly nothing resembling a long view. He knows his government won’t last so he’ll do what he can for his boys while he can. Too bad he has to trash the environment while he’s at it.
