What a great day. My sister has been trying to get a hold of me for a few days. My hours aren’t so much conducive to conversing with Day People at the moment. Nevertheless, we managed to finally touch base:

“Your message said you couldn’t mail my present and you needed to talk to me about it. Maigen and I were joking that it must be a baby owl.”

“Oh, well it might have been. I have one.”

“Really?”

“Yep. Well, it’s dead. I hit it driving to Calgary not too long ago. I donated it to the nature park. We have a closet of dead stuff there. Very fun for the kids.”

“Really.”

“Yeah. I didn’t even notice. A couple days later a gas station guy said I had something stuck to the front of my car.”

“Eew. Dead baby owl.”

“Yeah, so if you want it I could…”

“No, no. That’s okay. So if my present isn’t a dead baby owl…?”

“Minus the owl.”

“You want to send me a dead baby? Eeeeeeeew.”

“Ha! No, minus the dead. Uncle Adrian.”

“…”

“…”

“You LIE!”

She doesn’t lie. Sometime around the beginning of June I’m going to be an uncle. I’m… awestruckexcitedhappyglowinggigglinggiddyexcitedsingingoverjoyed. And then some. Mother must have been busting stitches wanting to tell me but Robyn made her promise to let her. Aww.

Now, with about $5 to our names, Maigen & I have to try to make it over to Qualicum while my sister is at my parents’ place. It’ll be our only chance to see her (for Maigen to meet her) before this summer (when I become an uncle). She leaves the day before we were originally scheduled to arrive, so somehow we’re hoping to skip over there for a night while she’s still there. I talked to Miguel tonight but it doesn’t look hopeful. The earliest I could get away is Monday night, the only real possibility, and Maigen works Tuesday morning bright & early (I think). So that might just not work at all. I’ll talk to her when she gets home tonight.

whew. Uncle Adrian. Uncle mischiff. heh.

Merry Christmas.
