Tuesday night (tonight for all y’all day people) at 9pm comes episode 2 of the new Da Vinci series. Only three more episodes til you get to hear my bike noises. I’m at the shop right now working on number six.
According to The Straight my show is Canada’s top drama. That much you knew. I also said it plays in 48 countries (I think it was 48). Initial ratings in the US report that Da Vinci reruns beat CSI reruns in many regions (7 year old reruns for us, brand new for them). The reason this is interesting is that for the past few years critics have been nodding wisely in observing that Da Vinci’s Inquest was CSI before there was CSI.
The appeal of Da Vinci is not just in its resemblance to CSI but in that it goes so much further in its realistic feel. The drama is very believable, and finding that in US television is… well… about as likely as finding unscripted reality tv. You find yourself drawn in to story lines that could very well be more fact than fiction. You can’t help recalling comments in the media that the show is clearly based on the career of Larry Campbell, Mayor of Vancouver and now a senator.
But don’t take my word for it. Da Vinci is doing well.
Best of luck with the series, if you guys do ever do realize the same level of popularity as CSI, you’ll be doing very well for yourself.
COMMENT:
Since we are on the topic of slimy liberals (ie Larry Campbell), do you care to comment on the Gomery Report and its findings? Maybe make it your next post? Just a suggestion…
haha Oh please! I’m not talking about the BC Liberal Party. Everyone knows where they come from. And it’s a shame that Larry Campbell’s career has to end where most party hacks go to die…
Comment? Um… I’m aware it was out. How’s that?
Funniest thing about the BC Liberal Party: it’s the old Conservative Party.
Larry Campbell a slimy liberal? Please do tell. This will be news to me.
Interesting that you feel empathy for a slimy liberal. And with so many party hacks out there, it being the current definition of what it is to be a politician, how do they all get to be senators? How many senators are there?
To restate the question: what makes Larry slimy?
Larry is a big phony. The “unpolitician” is nothing but an opportunist who couldn’t wait to get his hands on a big senate paycheque. What a hypocritical ass. The compassionate “champion of the homeless” collecting over a hundred thousand dollars a year for doing nothing and enjoying catered continental cuisine while the homeless in Vancouver starve. Why don’t you read more about Larry at http://www.terminalcity.ca/content/view/1021/133/
Not exactly a right wing rag. Enjoy
So, TT. Please do tell. Who do you like? Who, for you, is not a phony? I’m dying to know, because I’m sure as hell sick of hearing about the legions of those who fail to meet your inestimable mark.
Really, I’m on the edge of my seat for this one.
