How very odd. I don’t have a photo ready to plug in here to make things more interesting. Just me & my words. And not terribly exciting ones, either. The first Retro Thursday was reasonably successful. My week thus far has been good. Actually, it’s been very good. Improv is going well, with auditions wrapping up and I think eleven new members joining the ranks? That’s gotta be some kind of record.
And just when we become desperately in need of a bigger rehearsal space Casper & Johnny come through for us with the club. Yup. We rehearse on our own stage in a nightclub. Hawt. Or at least we will be. First we’ve got next Tuesday’s performance at the Ol’ Bailey:
Heads up! The Impromaniacs are performing at the Old Bailey this coming Tuesday! Starting at 8pm! I think. And I think I’m one of the performers. Will have to check with my secretary. Jen? =)
What else is new…. I’m going to the gym again. Jen & I got memberships at the Y. Feels great so far. Yes indeedy. I’m a little worried about my cardio though. It seems to be ramping up alarmingly quickly. I may not be as hopelessly out of shape as originally feared. Woo!
I saw The Incredibles (click that one- it’s fun) on Wednesday night after a few appies at the Keg with friends. Both events were thoroughly satisfying. I gotta say- Pixar just keeps lobbing The Bar higher. Just when you think you’ve seen the limit they effortlesly shrug that limit aside like it’s Steamboat Willie. Wow. And wow again. We’re all waiting with bated breath to see what Pixar does after the release of Cars, when their contract is up with Disney. If you ask me I suspect they’ll just strike a new deal after Mike steps down. It won’t be nearly as profitable for Disney, but at least they’ll still get to stick their name on it.
Where was I?
A little group of us went up to Neil’s cabin at Shawnigan for the day. A few board games with hot chocolate & Bailey’s progressed nicely into a rousing game of Truth or Dare which progressed naturally enough into me running around the outside of the cabin in a pink straw hat with my pants around my ankles. I think Neil has pictures. There was a flash, anyway. And yes, then I went to work. If you get half a chance to get yourself invited up to the cabin don’t hesitate at all. We have such a good time up there.
And this weekend I bolt for Vancouver once again. It’s Miguel’s birthday. Actually it was his birthday today (Thursday) and he’s got a small gathering arranged at the Alibi. And by small I mean… well… it’s Miguel and he’s not exactly a nobody in the industry. Hopefully I at least get to have a shot with him.
Jen’s going to come over if her health allows. Maybe Saturday. We’ll see. It’s about time she got to meet the Vancouver contingent.
Meanwhile my camera is slowly fading. The sensitive electronic connection between the body & the view-screen is rusted or something. All things considered it makes sense. If I was water that would be the first place I attacked. So that gives me some significant pause for thought. What if I give up on the flip-out screen? One big vulnerability covered in the new camera. Hmm. Yes…
Funny. I honestly sat down here to do a quick spam check, write a few words to let you know I’m still alive and out of town for the weekend, and here I am an hour later. I guess you & I should get together more often so we can keep up with each other.
Now go away. I have to get some sleep. [muah]
Did you get my message on MSN yesterday?? Can you give me a call when you get a chance? I have a minor favor to ask.
COMMENT:
What the hell?! Steve Jobs is also CEO of Pixar?! Why didn’t I know this?!
Turns out he co-founded it in 1986. That boy has vision.
I find that super cool for some reason.
This is Jason Kolt, reporting for duty!
(a.k.a. checking in…)
So you kids have Y memberships? And you like cardio? Send me a message one of these days and we will go for a run there.
Speaking of which, I have to go ride a bike in 15 minutes… I should jet.
You are missed. :)
Hey DJ -> Any chance I could enlist your help for an art project? I’m making a stop-motion video for my digital video class, and I need someone to voice the other character. I thought it might be up your alley.
And I sympathize w/ the camera problems -> Mine keeps overexposing some of my exposures, which is ass. I’m going to take it into the shop once photography class is over, which is the wrong time to do it, but I have 3 projects due in photography in the next 2 weeks, so it is actually easier for me to shot extra rolls of film than to be camera-less for the next 2 weeks. But on the plus side for you, it might mean new toys, right?
