happy b-day lee

In a fabulous whirlwind of whirliness I bolted for Vancouver Sunday afternoon to surprise Lee for his birthday. Jaye & Caruthers were smart & took the helijet while I queued up for a Harbour Air stand-by. The weather was sucky so my flight was cancelled and off I went to catch the ferry. Thanks to Jen for the speedy transfer and not pouting too much over not coming along. Next time, sugar.

We hit the ol’ Roxy Burger and several other stops during the evening. Migs & I got back to his place somewhere between 4 & 6… I don’t clearly recall. I got to see Crush for the first time but once again I missed seeing the place where Lee actually works. The Kidd had nothing left in him by the end of his shift so he couldn’t catch up and Dobson was also a no-show, but the rest of us made up for the lack with more than enough enthusiasm. Lee’s periodic pleas of “why do you hate me?” were met with howls of derisive laughter and much clinking of glassware. I wouldn’t say we were off the hook. Not by comparison to our Legendary Lost Weekends, but I would certainly say that we went farther in one night than most people do in a year. It’s just what we do. We don’t expect mortals to keep up. This was just a healthy good time, and I woke up at 12:30 this afternoon with a smile.

I’ll tell the full version of the tale when I post the pics. For now our favorite dj needs to snuggle into bed & catch up on some sleep. Weekends like this will do that to you.

Happy birthday, Lee. Hope you don’t hate us any more than you did a couple days ago. =)
