perf weekend

camping

K, here’s the deal- my last official day of landscaping is Wednesday, which is also the first night of the newly moved retro night (as yet unnamed). So, a long day, yes. But once that day is behind us I’ll have more time for catching up on pics. I owe some wedding pics… and some pics from this weekend… and I suppose that list goes back about two and a half gigs. Months and months. Back to when I was single, even. =)

The weekend was fantastic, thanks for asking. I had such a fab time with Jen. She’s perf. We busted out of Dodge, hitting the city limits at 7:02. We were in Parksville a little before 9 and we slid right into the Paradise Sea-Shell Motel, conveniently located right beside the Paradise Mini-Golf, or whatever the hell it’s called. You know the one. The mini-golf in Parksville. Although apparently there’s a new one. At any rate, you know damn well what I’m talking about so quit yelling at me. We mini-golfed in the morning after extricating ourselves from a room about the same size as my own bedroom, which seems small for a hotel room but we really didn’t need much dance floor. We got by. And the continental breakfast was fine other than the fact you had to go get it yourself. Did I mention how much fun the mini-golf was? We tied. How fun is that? Of course, I took two penalty points for playing right-handed. She was getting bored about half way through, so we switched hands. I kept forgetting so she penalized me. What can you do? She’s too damn cute.

And then we were off for a quick lunch. I had Timmy Ho’s and she had sushi. The road was right there so after jamming some groceries into the cooler we made tracks for Long Beach. And with only a few distractions we managed to get there before dark. Tent goes up and fire goes lit. We bbq smokies and make ourselves comfortable. Such a good night. We had s’mores. We went for a perfect (if chilly) walk and I found some really cool shots. Coming soon, of course. Morning showed up soon enough and we rolled out for Qualicum so she could Meet The Parents. See, I had it easy. I met her parents at the festival and we really only had about forty-five seconds to get to know each other. Poor Jen had to sit down for a glass of wine and then dinner. S’okay. I think my parents passed all the tests.

And then we had to come home. Maybe one day we won’t. The idea did cross our minds. But we’ve only been dating a month. Let’s be reasonable here.

So I have some pics coming soon. There’s a lot of smiling in them. Go figure.

  1. Well, DJ. She looks absolutely evil, and I’m sure she’s a terrible influence on you.

You stay away from her, ya hear?

glad to hear things are swell!

    COMMENT:
    … but if you’re there… and she’s there… who’s taking the picture?!?

Sounds like things are well on their way to more good times.

  2. Apparently DJ’s camera now operates completely independently of the man himself. I’m waiting for it to start making it’s own updates :)

  3. *kisses* I kept checking back to see if you’d posted about your weekend, and the longer it took you, the more I guessed that you had a great time. Jen, way to go keeping him in line during the golf game! I’m so happy for you both, new love is always so fun.

  4. Remember how small a world this is?? I went to school with Jen, and though our interaction wasn’t much (I wasn’t there enough)I’m realy happy for you two! Hi Jen!!

One of those funny things – the last time I think I saw Jen, it was at Darcy’s, when I intro’d you and Gurton to Walt. She was sitting next to us in the back. I think, anyways. Ask her. See if I’m on crack. She was with Greg and…someone else…can’t remember. Yup, small world!

  5. yay for romantic weekends away!! :D

fyi: i usually get bored 1/2 way through mini-golf as well. i suspect jen and i will find there are many more interesting things we have in common when we actually meet. ;)

  6. Ok…how bloody cute is that??? This picture put a much needed grin on my face. I am glad that SOMEONE is lucky in love. :)

  7. You’re looking really good, DJ. Healthy and happy.

I can’t wait to meet Ms. Jen this weekend. I’m excited. Ecstatic, even.

    I’ll even wear pants!
