cuts for the cure

On Sunday, August 8th, from 10am to 4pm at Headstarts Salon (1350 Cook @ Yates), hairs will be cut with all proceeds going to benefit breast cancer research.

With Jay’s gf and her shiny shaved head against cancer still fresh in everyone’s mind now seems a good time to kick the theme’s momentum onward.

One of the Impromaniacs is a feature head hunter at this event. Danielle is aiming to participate in The Weekend to End Breast Cancer, and that means generating at least $2000 for the BC Cancer Foundation. With a minimum donation of $10 a head she’s got her work cut out for her. Dig deep past the pocket lint to the secret stash of cash and cut your damn hair, you freakin hippy.

Danielle says there’s room for a couple more stylists so I’m throwing that out there with a pointed look in Lola‘s direction. If you or someone you know wants to take the blades to someone’s head in the name of charity, ping me and I’ll hook you up with Danielle’s contact info. Don’t wait- jump in now.

I’m hoping to bring the club on board with this and borrow some of their gear so the head hunters can cut with some rhythm. I really don’t need to spin a six hour set, and davin’s out of town for the weekend, so there’s room for another dj or two if you wanna. Ping me and we’ll chat. You know the address. Me at this domain. Nothin to it. I’m thinking I might record the session and sell the cd through the salon. Whatever they make off them they can toss into the charity dealio. Wanna be recorded?

So: you know you need a haircut. And now you know why you’ve been putting it off. Your regular stylist will not hate you for being unfaithful- it’s charity. There’s even a chance your stylist is participating. If not, suggest it. So no excuses. Even if you just had it cut this will get you monster karma points, redeemable at participating merchants for valuable prizes.

  1. Oh so tempting! My hair is already short, and it is so hot these days…. K, I’ll do it if you do it. My challenge to every other mother out there reading this, cut it off, the kids won’t mind. That is if I can sneak down to Vic that soon again. ;)

that’s a great idea!! i would love to participate, though i am supposed to work that day. i’ll see what i can do about getting it off. you know i’m very committed to raising $$$ for breast cancer research, given what is going on in my own family right now.

  2. Well, I’m in. Can hardly spend all day in a salon and not get cut. Just wouldn’t be cricket.

Lola- do I still have your email? I’ll try sending you Danielle’s phone number. She’s a doll. Y’all will be slugging back ‘tinis in no time.

  3. Just to be clear. Head shaving is not required. Get a weave or a stylish flat top. Perhaps become the next Billie Ray Cyrus. You may even get that mod look you always wanted. You can still get that head shave if you want to, but it is not necessary.

Basically you are getting a damn good haircut for as much as you want to pay. Minimum is 10 bob.

  4. Whatever you do, if you’re looking for more info about this event, do not, I mean DO NOT type “cuts for the cure” into google and take the first link that pops up! Good gawd!! ;oP

  5. Yikes. Talk about getting carried away with the moment. Meanwhile, yes. Thanks to gurton for pointing out that you don’t have to shave your head to be cool.
