One of these days I’m going to put my blog links back up. Lola has joined the ranks and I don’t think I’ve done a proper job of welcoming her to the cult…err… ranks… thingy… oh look! a castle!
Anyone who has had the pleasure of making her acquantance knows she’s an outspoken and wellspoken individual. She has carefully considered opinions and she’s awesome to philosophize with because of that. Somebody save me from all those mindless idiots out there who have never given a moment’s thought to WHY they have the opinions they do. Here’s someone who I believe is wise enough to know that she will never stop learning, that there is no such thing as a final answer, and that some things are worth speaking up about even if some people might not agree with you.
She’s a thinker, is what I’m saying. And unlike some people I know she’s an adept enough debater that she can carry on a conversation without making you feel like she thinks you’re an idiot for having your opinion. She’ll take the time to explain her side, and she’ll hear you out as well. Then she challenges that point of view without attacking you personally, which is a huge skill that many people never stop to consider. Tact & diplomacy save lives, people.
All of which is a long-winded way of saying I’m really glad she decided to start blogging.
Next we work on her brother Dave, another razor-sharp wit couched in a heart of gold. That man needs a blog. Check out her thoughts, and Dave’s in response.
Another one of those times when you realize what a phenomenal bunch of people I get to hang around with.
I haven’t really talked much about the popular media and its influence on our self-image. Kinda surprising in retrospect because it is something I feel stronly about. I can only assume I’m getting to it.
well, thank you for the glowing introduction, darlin’! i am very pleased to have finally joined the blog ranks. it’s very liberating to be able to throw my thoughts out there.
(and dave has a blog, too. i don’t know how to post links yet, but you can get to it from grant’s link page)

COMMENT:
werd. I thought you had the address for my blog (http://xenographic.ath.cx). I’m warning you though -> Profound thoughts are few and far between there. It more exists as a sounding board for my random thoughts.
I like to save for my coherent thoughts up so I try to ration them out on my blog. As far as making a convinving argument, I owe any skills I have to my upbringing. The Freemans are debaters by nature. Years of family dinners have honed our skills for disagreeing with a opinion* in a respectiful manner. Not that skill is needed very often on the internet, but I think it is a good one to have in your tool kit.

*while I was trying to type out this post, opinion somehow came out as poing. Good Lord I need more coffee.
sometimes i do that, too (mistype while in need of coffee).
my most frequent mistake is spelling my own name as “koal” or “loal.”
pity that.

speak with Davin re: this saturday the 19th June, if you have not planned anything :)
m00sique, fun, DEBAUCHERY!!!!!!
19th? What happened to the 26th? This requires investigating…
You’re right, Adrian. Lola and Dave are master debaters, and I have been witness to many of the famous “Freeman Dinners” to learn from where the Freeman children inherit their wit and intelligence. Having dinner with the Freemans is highly entertaining, and I’d recommend it if you ever get the chance (which is difficult cuz the Ma and Pa of the operation fly all over the world, engaging others in debate no doubt). Never a dull moment with the Freemans. :)
*gulp*….. i almost read that wrong…. master’DE’bater heh
