tired, but glowing

tired saint

For a lot of people it’s been the Christmas season for a couple weeks already. I’ve had years like that. Loved ’em. I love Christmas. I’m one of those “Christmas is my favorite time of year” people. Not to the point of nausea, of course, but I have been known to get carried away with the season of giving & loving & sharing & peace & snacks & decorating & on and on.

This year it’s been slow coming for me. Too frickin’ busy. I’m getting there, but it’s slow. Even Drunken December at Blendermill has been a subdued, albeit cheery, affair. After a fantastic day at the Mill made possible by all sorts of good news we’ve promised each other we’ll make up for it tomorrow… after which I roll out to spin at Upstairs, so I can’t get too swizzled. Just… cheery. =)

Again, lots to write about, but no time to do it. As much as I’m looking forward to not having to sit in front of a computer for ten hours a day I’m also looking forward to being able to sit down in front of a computer and blog. And update the gallery. And mess around with SoundForge and Reason and Illustrator and Photoshop and that sort of thing. *glee*

I’ll have time for pushups. And eating properly. And long walks. And friends. Most importantly: friends. I’ll visit the folks up island for a few days, and I’ll make it over to Van for a couple more, and I’ll soak up some friend time with people that I’ve missed, even if we’ve been working together all this time.

Yup, I’m getting excited about Christmas.

And bed. Ha! I’ve gotta hit the hay. Tomorrow is another long one.

  1. I’m glad the xmas season is slowly filtering in. It is such a wonderful time of year! It’s a time when most people seem to be of one loving mind. Very nice, and especially nice when your friends aren’t all grinchy! Hope you have a good time this year and all the best for the new one.

    COMMENT:
also huge fan of Christmas, and i agree it seems to be coming on slowly. I haven’t had a lot of time to think about it, and i just got my tree up last weekend (usualy a first weekend in december tradition).

That said, i’m getting goosebumps thinking about it, and i think i may spend the day listening to Christmas carols.

  2. There’s a French Hallowe’en carol that Fiona always sings– I’ll get her to sing it to you…

    It’s called “C’est l’Hallowe’en!”

  3. There are a number of songs i associate with All Hollows Eve:

    The monster mash
    Thriller
    The Time Warp
    Clap For the Wolf Man
Anything by donnie and marie (itÂ’s just scary)

Although i’ve never heard them called carols.

carol: a song of joy or mirth
carol: a popular song or ballad of religious joy

Possibly, the association of “carol” with religion and joy has stopped from associating it with the pagan holiday. Maybe we should come up with another word for carol whose definition is more appropriate for the annual festival.

    Any ideas?
