you’re kidding, yes?

ruler.jpg Well, now I’ve seen everything. My blog got spammed. No joke. Somebody going by the name of Penis Enlargement (he must’ve got beat up SO much in school) dropped by my very first post and smacked down about fifty links for everything from the obligatory penis enlargement to women’s viagra. Pretty much covered all the spam bases except gambling.

Penis Enlargement was polite about it. “If you find this entry innappropriate please remove it from your database!” Well, Penis Enlargement, your IP says you hail from San Francisco (United Colocation Group is your ISP) and I have the Hotmail address you provided. If you show up here with anything resembling spam again I will contact your ISP. And I will flood that mailbox beyond any conceivable use. I promise. It takes about thirty seconds out of my day.

Moron. Yeah, I think I’ll remove that from my database.

Has this happened to any of y’all?

  1. nah never, *maybe I should go check*, nope never.

I am curious about the hotmail address. Do you think they would actually use there own? Hmm, and do you suppose they were being nice or just being legally minded by adding the ‘…remove from database’ comment?

    COMMENT:
I nuked the comment already. I could forward it to you if you were really curious. And legality doesn’t really enter into it as far as I know. Anyone can post whatever they want in a public venue like this. I just can’t imagine how anyone could think the effort and expense would be worth it. And why the very first post? I suspect that I was visited by a bot of some sort, designed to post its spam-o-gram at the top of any site that’s postable, presuming that the top would be the most often seen.

  2. anyone with a blog that has search capabilities (read: all mt blogs do, even if you have not yet it set up — just add the search template — see http://www.softstyle.biz/cgi-bin/mt-search.cgi ) should do a search for “sex” or “penis” every now and then to see if any spammers have planted ads in your archived entries comments sections. if you’re someone who uses the words “sex” and “penis” a lot, then you’re probably going to have to employ some other key words like “tight” or “pussy.” i found several spam comments, eradicated them, and banned 3 IP addresses. no you don’t. not on my blog. good ridance.

  3. Agreed. This is a high class joint! The easiest route has been to have all comments emailed to me automatically. Nothing gets posted in here without me knowing about it.

  4. Has not happened to me , tho I have not been into this blogz0ring for that long. It’s like sneaking onto the next door neighbour’s property and hiding some household trash there. I don’t quite get it.
