Not Dead Yet

So the weekend was in a lot of ways surreal. First there was the house-warming at the new digs of Grant, Jason and Gavin. Hopefully there will be pics- there were enough digital cams running around. Thanks again to Judd for paving the way. Bastard! I dub thee Pied Piper!

Speaking of pics, I keep getting bugged for pics of me on my own website. Fair enough. As soon as I figure out enough html to actually update the site itself, I’ll do that. In the meantime I’ll reward those few lucky enough to find their way to the blog with another fab pic of me from the club:

Admittedly, nothing special, but it is me.

So after the house-warming, which certainly warmed the house up in true debaucherous style, and a really good walk home with Dub-A, I managed to get to bed around 6. Caught a few hours of sleep and was back in the game. Well, I didn’t really do much with my Saturday I guess, but that’s because I was saving up some soul for an afterhours gig Doug decided we should have at the Broad Street club. Doug- owner of 11Stones. Solid guy I think. I’m back in Victoria because of him.

Anyway, the gig was good times. We just rounded up a slew of pretty people and clubbers from One Lounge and let the word get around. I guess we had somewhere between 70 to a hundred people in there. I was surprised. Not by the numbers, but by the fact they were into my music.

I just figured seeing as I was spinning as a guest of Doug’s (read: on my own time), I’d play my music, rather than pander to the top40 drone mentality they’re all used to. I just stuck to my music and they really seemed to enjoy it. Solid floor for hours. Then again, it was Saturday night and it’s safe to assume they were hammered and/or shwacked, right? Well, it was enough to give me hope.

Anyway, I didn’t get out of there till after 5. Another late night, almost like old times. And I was happy with my set. Even the cheese was higher calibre than these folks usually get around here. And they went off went I wanted them to go off. To stuff they’d never heard before.

I walked home. Took my time. In Victoria the streets are pretty much dead at 5. You could walk home naked and stand a pretty good chance of not having a witness. But I kept my clothes on anyway.

And to round it all off I had a really good talk with Amy today. Quel vie j’ai mène.

  1. Found you, mischiff.

Thanks for coming out to our housewarming… I have decided that you and I need a debaucherous night on our own– do it up the right way!

    COMMENT:
That was the first time I’ve ever seen a top40 crowd embrace the good stuff. A beautiful thing, and nicely done. :)

  2. For the love of all that is holy, your comments font is smaller and darker than … something very small and very dark. I cannot read this small-and-dark thing we speak of. Of course, that may be because my monitor is set to ‘very dim’ but in any case, you should make it brighter, so those of us who are old can read it. Hmmm. What was that… a self-hack that dragged you down with it? *grin*

  3. Finally found your Blog! And some time to read it.

Thanks for coming to our housewarming, good times with the jaggie downstairs. We must continue that convo :)

I have a few great pics of you and Amy I must get over to ya!
