the Audition so far

Yesterday was the first day of principal photography on location for Audition Now, a carefully crafted short homage to the similarly titled Coppola picture some of you may have seen. Audition is set in the jungles of the Vancouver acting scene (if it’s not obvious) and based on the buzz so far I think it safe to say it really will do well. Don’t forget to plan your life around the star-dappled fundraiser details over here.

I took a few shots when I wasn’t manning the audio rig. You will probably recognize Aaron Douglas from his role as Chief Tyrol in Battlestar Galactica, another show of which you may have heard. (The official fan site for Aaron Douglas) and (another fan site). Very fun guy. Natural, laid back with tons of energy, and up for it.

And you may recognize Brian Dobson, if not for his face then certainly for his voice, which has featured in innumerable cartoons and commercial voice-overs. One of the top top voice talents and uber fun to hang out with.

And Cam Park, as the lead, from such unheard-of productions as Smallville and The 4400. Nails his character.

And Al Abell from… well, just about half of everything done in Vancouver in the past few years.

Anyway, enough with the name dropping. You can IMDb the whole poster and keep yourself busy for hours. The important thing is that I had way more fun than you did yesterday. We had a great day under Lee Baran’s easy-going but professional direction. Not many directors will plan their shooting schedule around a hockey game. True story. We’ve got two more days scheduled, and I’m really looking forward to them.

Yep, Maigen got to be in it. Had to drag her, kicking and screaming, of course, but I daresay she enjoyed herself. [muah]

  1. Of course I loved it – so long as I’m not credited as ‘Hooker Number 2″ or something! But I wore my own jewelry design – cross your fingers people see it!
